A recently published study has revealed that just 6% of leading crypto and blockchain companies have a female chief executive.
The study by Luxembourg-based foreign exchange platform Forex Suggest found that among the 50 surveyed companies, females are disproportionately represented at the leadership level.
At the best-performing companies, Chainalysis and BitOasis, females accounted for 46.15% and 42.86% of staff, respectively.
At the other end of the scale, two firms (Coinrule and Trust Capital) had no female leadership roles.
Low female representation has been a problem in the crypto and digital assets sector for some time, not just at the leadership level.
A study conducted in February 2023 by Boston Consulting Group found that just 13% of Web3 founding teams contained women. While the female staffing levels at Web3 startups rise to 27%, many of these are ‘non-technical’ roles.
