Luxembourg-based crypto exchange Bitstamp has named JB Graftieaux as its global chief executive.
The appointment is a promotion for Graftieaux, who joined the firm in 2021 as European CEO.
He replaces Julian Sawyer, who has left to pursue other opportunities.
Graftieaux has a 20 year career in the crypto world, including stints at PayPal and eBay, where he was managing director of eBay Europe and led the company’s regulatory operations for payments.
It is also his second time working for Bitstamp. He first joined the company in 2014, serving for two years as its chief compliance officer.
“As the longest-running and highly trusted crypto exchange in the world serving millions of users, our strategic vision is to help build the financial ecosystem of tomorrow,” said Graftieaux.
