Crypto custodian secures registration in Luxembourg

crypto, bitcoin, LuxembourgZodia Custody Ireland, the crypto custodian established by Standard Chartered and Northern Trust, has been registered as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) by Luxembourg’s financial regulator.

The move by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) enables Zodia to offer a range of digital asset services including the transfer, safekeeping and administration of digital assets as well as custodian wallet services.

According to Zodia, the registration signals a “pivotal moment for the crypto custodians”.

The CEO of Zodia Custody Ireland, John Cronin said: “Our registration allows us to work with the wider ecosystem of AIFMs, investment advisors, depositaries, administrators, law firms, auditors and more to ensure familiar institutional product can be developed and offered to investors.”

Zodia Custody Ireland was also registered on the Central Bank of Ireland’s VASP register in August 2022.
